After a long hiatus, 'Steven Universe' will return with its third season sometime in June. When the new episodes drop, they will reportedly reveal some long-awaited details about Rose Quartz, Malachite, and Yellow Diamond.
Fans of the award-winning animated television series are in for quite a treat, as not only will 'Steven Universe' return to screens in a couple of months, but Cartoon Network has already given the popular series the green light for a fourth and a fifth season. With a lot of narrative up ahead, fans can expect that the third season will drop some exciting details about many of the show's beloved characters.
- Steven Universe starts off looking like a standard screwball cartoon with some superhero action thrown in, but it grows (by late in season 1) into a story of tremendous proportion. All the characters have strengths and weaknesses, and fascinating backstory, from the four main character 'crystal gems' all the way down to the mailman, the mayor.

With several more weeks to go before the new season debuts, various fan theories area already hitting the Internet. Many of these theories claim that the story of Rose Quartz's past could be told and/or that Steven could discover more of the powers he inherited from the Crystal Gems' former leader.
According to Inverse, the new season of 'Steven Universe' could reveal what occurred thousands of years ago that led Rose Quartz to switch sides. The outlet notes that Steven already has an aptitude for communicating with Lapis Lazuli through dreams, which could mean that Rose may also be able to speak with her son through his dreams.
There is also speculation that Steven will soon find out that he has inherited more powers from Rose Quartz than he previously thought. While the show's protagonist is already able to heal and create barriers using his saliva, this may just be the beginning of what he got from Rose Quartz.
Meanwhile, Moviepilot reports that the new season may see the return of Yellow Diamond. According to the outlet, a leaked clip from season 3 shows Steven, Peridot, and Lapis Lazuli being tracked by a probe. Fan theories suggest that the probe could have been sent by Yellow Diamond and that the villain could be intent on taking out Peridot.
Moviepilot further reports that leaked episode titles for the third season of 'Steven Universe' indicate the return of Malachite, the combined form of Lapis Lazuli and Jasper. According to Hall of Fame magazine, Malachite may have formed an entirely new personality and may be enjoying her newfound powers and freedom.
